Are Full Body Armor Suit Worn by our U.S. Soldiers the Best?
Full body armor suit can spell the difference when soldiers are in the line of fire fighting for survival and freedom, and struggling to beat the battle of life and death. Brig. Gen. Mark Brown, who ensures the supply of body armor for the Army, told NBC, “The body armor that we issue to our soldiers today is the best in the world. It underwent live-fire testing, and its proven effective both in the testing process and in the actual combat.”
The question is, is it really the best? They said that there is something better called Dragon skin. This was divulged by the NBC news investigation along with an independent ballistic test. Many militaries and soldiers bought this type of full body armor suit as they were coaxed in believing that it is the best. However, the army banned dragon skin last year before even it was formally tested. The current body armor of our Army is called the Interceptor. Jim Magee, a retired marine colonel helped in the design of Interceptor a long time ago. Lisa Myers asked Jim Magee which among the full body armor suit available today is the best? Of course, his answer was the dragon skin. He said it is better than the Interceptor, a state of the art innovation. Conclusively, Mr. Magee confirmed that dragon skin is better and even proudly divulged that anybody in the industry would vouch the same. Why, because it has more stopping features and more coverage. He said that the Interceptor uses four rigid plates to repel the most lethal weapon but leaving some vital organs unprotected. On the contrary, dragon skin has discs that interconnect just like the Medieval chainmail. It wraps most of the torso, hence providing protection to a much greater area. Magee even boasted that if he were to be asked to go to Iraq he would buy dragon skin and wear it. He was not alone who has high regard with dragon skin, the CIA or the Central Intelligence Agency also bought this type of armor for their elite operatives in Iraq. Nonetheless, Brig. Gen. Brown says that the Army also conducted its own test and found out that out of forty-eight shots, thirteen bullets penetrated the dragon skin. He proclaimed that dragon skin failed miserably. The Dragon skin was banned even before the testing began on May. So now we are left with the question – which among the full body armor suit is the best? |
